Course contents:

1. Writing:
Introducing Stephen WAN’s GIST Model of Writing

a. Deciding a clear theme in addressing all parts of the question

b. Structuring the writing coherently and cohesively

c. Developing ideas with full deployment of lexical resources

d. Enhancing awareness of using a wide grammatical range with accuracy

2. Reading:

a. Learning advanced reading skills

b. Developing a pool of vocabulary

c. Reading with comprehension

3. Speaking:

a. Empowering speaking ability by learning International Phonetic Alphabets

b. Enhancing pronunciation accuracy by strengthening three ‘Ts’ (tone, tonicity, tonality) training

c. Using lexical resources flexibly and precisely

d. Speaking fluently with rare repetition or self-correction

4. Listening

a. Identifying stresses and weak forms

b. Learning commonly used formulaic expressions

c. Understanding the hidden agenda in spoken communication
